Using Rugs in Your Bedroom

Nothing feels as good as waking up and putting your feet on the floor into a thick, plush rug. There is something about getting up out of bed and putting your feet on soft carpeting that appeals to everyone. Whether you have wall to wall carpeting or hardwood floors in your bedroom, placing rugs on the floor are not only a fun way to decorate but also add a feeling of lush luxury to the bedroom.

There are several ways to use rugs in your bedroom. They can be used for both decoration as well as comfort. Having a plush shag area rug next to the bed feels good on your feet in the morning; it is a small luxury and costs very little. Small, plush throw rugs are inexpensive, especially when you consider how good they make you feel.

If you want to spice up the décor in your room without having to undergo a major overhaul, you can add a few area rugs. The rugs that you use in the bedroom do not necessarily have to be thick and plush. You might like the idea of making your bedroom more exotic looking, in which case you can use a Persian rug. Not all Persian carpets are large; some of them come in small shapes and can be used as runners or as simple decorative carpeting.

To really add drama to your bedroom and make it look like a Bedouin tent, you can toss down many different Persian area rugs to cover either bare flooring or even place them over your wall to wall carpeting. This will give your bedroom much drama and also make walking on the floor very comfortable.

Best of all, when you tire of the Bedouin tent look in your bedroom, you can get stash away the carpets and replace them with something else. If you have wall to wall carpeting under the rugs, it will probably be in great shape as you saved it some wear and tear by covering it with the throw rugs.

Teenagers enjoy having thick and colorful throw rugs in their bedrooms. And of course there are heaps for your younger children. These are made out of a variety of fabrics, most of which are easily washable.

Hesitating to buy that beautiful rug for your bedroom only because it is not home washable? Don’t worry; you do not have to launder throw rugs in your bedroom as you would those in your bathroom. You can vacuum these rugs once a week like you do your other carpeting and, occasionally, send them to the dry cleaning establishment for cleaning.

If the bedroom rugs are being placed over plain tiled flooring, make sure that you get slip guards to put under your rugs. Many of the decorative bedroom rugs do not have rubber backing or slip resistant backing, which could be a dangerous proposition. Before using a throw rug in any room, make very sure that the rug is not going to move when you step. You’re not looking for a flying carpet, are you?
