How To Choose A Color Scheme That Goes With Your Personality

Painting a house and choosing a color scheme is one of the most important parts of decorating or re-decorating any dwelling space. This is because a color scheme not only decides your whole theme, it also plays an important part on the moods of the inhabitants. Color is an extremely important and influential part of life for most people, even though we do not know it and a house or work space full of jarring colors can actually play havoc with a person’s efficiency and amiability. Therefore, it is extremely important for you to pay a lot of attention and give enough time and consideration to the color scheme of your house. Selecting a color scheme that goes with your personality will not only make your home feel like a haven for you, it will also ensure that you enjoy every moment that you spend in it.

People who like bright colors should definitely put it on their walls. Bring out the reds, yellows, blues, pinks and oranges, but make sure that you do not paint all your walls in the same color. Bright and dark colors can be quite overpowering and while you might enjoy a red or fuchsia painted room for a while, you might get bored of it earlier that you think you would. Therefore, a better idea is to go for a scheme where you paint one or two walls of a room with a bright shade while going for a much lighter shade of the same color for the other walls and fittings. For example, you can paint one wall sunshine yellow and paint the other three with a much lighter shade of the same color. This would ensure that your room looks lively without being overpowering.

If you are playing with darker shades, then you can provide highlights in oranges and reds in order to stay on the safe side instead of painting a whole room with the same color. Another idea that you can explore with bright shades is to go for a textured finish on your walls. Whatever color you choose, remember that changing the whole color scheme of your house if you somehow do not like the end result is not just going to be cumbersome, it is also going to be very very costly.

People who like pastels and other soft colors might end up creating a living space that is drab, old fashioned or something that looks like a cotton candy bar. Therefore, using highlights of darker shades or using colorful furniture and accessories is advised in such cases. If you are one of those people who like to keep changing the décor of their home quite frequently or if you keep on adding items to your house on a regular basis, then you should definitely go for a neutral shade like off white or cream. This is because these colors complement almost all kinds of décor schemes and you can easily keep on changing themes and décor without having to repaint your walls.

In order to get more ideas about what color scheme to use in your house, you can check out websites of paint companies. Most of these websites have loads of pictures that give you ideas about how to paint your home and have software to help you decide on a color scheme. If you are planning to create a bold scheme, then it is a good idea to use their free software first and check how your house will look with those colors before carrying out the paint job.
