HIP For Selling Properties in the UK

HIP also known as home information packs or also know as the ’seller’s pack’ is a group of documents that provide all the information need to sell a property in England and Wales. Sellers are obliged to provide the information under law.

Included in a HIP will be two different types of information i) required and ii) authorised.

Required Information – This includes a home info pack index, title documents of the property, local authority and drainage searches, sale statement/terms of sale and energy performance certificate. These documents must be submitted as part of the HIP.

Authorised Information – This includes any added information that may be helpful, including a home condition report, legal summary and specific search reports such as mining search reports. A couple of sellers questionnaires can also be included to provide more information.
