You are moving your business into a new office and you want to kit it out with the right furniture and equipment. But how do you do a proper, successful Office Fitout? Here is a guide with some useful tips to help you.

Fitting out a new office is not always as simple as it sounds. You want to make sure that you have all the equipment that you need and that everything serves its purpose in the most efficient way. But at the same time, you can’t just throw a few office chairs, desks, and computers into the middle of the room. Your office needs to look good to your employees as well as your clients, create the right atmosphere, and be user friendly and functional. As aesthetics and functionality are not always constant bedfellows, you will need to find the right combination of both.

When setting up your office, the first thing you need to assess before anything else is your available budget. There is no point in investing everything you have in beautiful, state-of-the-art equipment and then finding yourself on the verge of bankruptcy. So be realistic before you start.

The next consideration is how many workers will be using the office and how much space you have at your disposal. Work out the best options to maximize the available space that you have to the best advantage. After all, no office worker enjoys having to squash into cramped conditions day after day. The feelings of frustration and discomfort that this causes can have a very serious effect on their work and productivity.

Consider how much effort and time it will take you when it comes to planning, finding the appropriate office products, and how much it will then cost to get the installation work done. Will you need to add partitions or break down walls? Once you have worked out these costs, consider the possibility of hiring a fitout company that will take care of these issues for you. You may find that although a fitout company can be quite expensive, the cost of the planning and the headache of making all the arrangements yourself may justify this outlay.

If you do decide to go the company route, adopt the ancient Roman maxim of “caveat emptor” – “buyer beware.” This has held true since the times of Julius Caesar, and nothing has changed since. Make sure that you have suitable references from any company you consider using. Ask to see some of the offices that they have fitted out. When you speak to the references, ask questions such as how long it took for the company to deliver the goods, if they keep to deadlines, and if they are easy to deal with. If you want to change certain aspects of the design as the work is being done, how flexible would they be? Are they open to hearing your own personal ideas and wishes?

And once you have worked out all of the above, we wish you every success in your new office …

Before we answer the question of how to design your office, we need to define what an office is. After all, just as the expression “National Office Furniture” sounds fairly generic, so is the concept of an office. An office can be a small room in your home from where you actually work, or a small, private room that is used for business-related work even if your actual livelihood is earned elsewhere.

On the other hand, an office can be a huge room partitioned off into sections, rather like a national newspaper headquarters or a factory. Some offices are large and impersonal, while others are small and intimate. A lot depends on the number of people using it and whether members of the public are allowed in or out.

When you are designing your own office, there are two main factors that have to be taken into account: efficiency and aesthetics. On the one hand, you need your office to be the best place for yourself and your employees to work in. There needs to be enough computers and office equipment so that the job can be done. The chairs should be comfortable and the desks wide enough to accommodate everyone’s needs. There should be enough space to store stationery and other reserves. But on the other hand, the room should also be pleasing to the eye. After all, office workers need to feel comfortable with where they are. If they feel low and depressed by their surroundings, this will affect the standard of their work and their loyalty to the company.

Similarly, if your office is open to the public, you want your clients to feel impressed when they walk in. Remember that in the business world, first impressions are everything. Therefore, if a potential client walks in and thinks, “What a miserable looking old dump!” he will probably go elsewhere. At the same time, even if the office looks magnificent, if the atmosphere is not welcoming he will also take his business somewhere else. The office needs to look impressive on the one hand and reassuring on the other, so that your clients will see that you are a respectable operation and they will also feel safe and secure using your services.

If you have a flair for interior design, you can probably plan the layout of your office by yourself. But if you are not so gifted or you don’t have time to sit down and work it out, you are probably best advised to work with an office fitout company. When you choose one, you should take the following into account:
- How much they charge for their services
- How much of a budget you have available
- How long they say the work will take
- If the company has good references, and if you are able to go and see some of the offices that they have designed
- When you have chosen the company you want to use, make sure that you have a precise, written contract between you.

If you are planning to turn your small space bedroom into something bigger and spacious, there are various ways to help you do the trick. Without spending too much from your budget, creating a large room in a little space could be very fun and exciting.

Most rooms become very crowded and closed in because of clutter. Getting rid of unnecessary things could help clear your small rooms and give it a little bit more space. Simple accessories are enough to make a room beautiful and simpler thus giving the room a more fresh feeling. Mounting up objects makes the room larger and clearer. You are able to see every corner of the room with less clutter and unnecessary objects covering the floor.

Putting up soft colors like white, lavender, pastel or sky blue opens up your little room’s atmosphere and create an illusion of a bigger and spacious area. Windows could also contribute in opening up your rooms little space. Soft, light fabrics makes a room breezy and airy so try putting up light colored curtains to enhance light and air entering your window.

It is also important to keep a clean, neat looking room to avoid cluttering your little space. Accessorizing your flooring with area rugs could create a sophisticated yet minimal look for your room space area. Some people even try large area rugs to cover their living room instead of bulky couches. Throw in some floor pillow in colorful, soft fabric will surely let you enjoy your small room’s limited space looking very modern without having to spend too much from your budget.

Little do we know, maximizing a tiny room could be just as easy as one-two- three. You don’t need to hire a professional to learn how to make those tiny, little rooms into something more spacious and breathable.

The first key in dealing with small rooms is color. Color is everything when it comes to design and decoration. Walls painted in light colors will allow the room to feel more airy and light. Windows should be accessorized with light and soft colored fabrics to allow brightness and sunlight to freely enter the room.

Maximizing space means using minimal amount of furniture and decors. Big pieces of furniture will only eat up too much space and sometimes rendered less functional. A couch or two will already be enough to beautify your small living room into something bigger and wider. Mounting appliances on walls will also maximize the space and adds more sophistication to your living room’s contemporary style.

Wooden furniture is very popular these days and very common among many contemporary, minimalist home owners. Choosing light colored wood for cupboards, countertops and kitchen table could give your kitchen an illusion of openness and provide more functionality.

Small bedrooms could be a little tough to handle. You can maximize your bedroom spaces by putting up built in cabinets and closets that are specially designed for small, tiny bedrooms. Lighting up corners would be a very big help in creating a more relaxing and open ambiance inside your bedroom.

Home decorating can be a very fulfilling experience. You get to choose your own style, color and decorations according to your personal creativity and imagination. Transforming one room to another could be a bit tough. You have to consider a lot of aspects like space, shape and furniture. Aside from this, you must be able to know what atmosphere you want to create within the room. This will help you choose the proper kind of lighting, furnishings and accessories appropriate to your room’s theme and character.

The den is one of the most essential parts of the home. It can be anything you want it to be. An office, study room, living room or receiving area, the den should always be as inviting and comfortable enough to fulfill its purpose and function.

Giving your den a cozy atmosphere would depend on how you blend your colors, furniture and accessories all in one place. Dens should always feel warm and soothing, a best place for writing, reading and doing paper works. It allows you to focus and enjoy your quiet moment without having to worry about any distractions from the outside.

Dens are usually painted with neutral colors to allow it to blend with any kind of furniture and accessories. Heavy drapes and curtains are commonly featured to give it a warmer and soothing atmosphere.

Lighting is one essential factor to consider in decorating the den. Dim lights are best to create a relaxing mood while reading your favorite novel or doing research on your school project. Light up the corners of the room to give it a spacious and breathable look. This allows you to be more focused and make it an area conducive for learning. Contemporary lamps would add style and sophistication in your den’s character and elegance.

Inviting guests for meetings and simple conversations could be a part of your den’s functional design. Area rugs, old family photos, keepsakes and wall paintings could enhance the ambiance created by your den. These accessories and home decors will surely liven up conversations among members of the family and friends. Dens could be anything you want it to be. As long as you provide the perfect kind of furniture and accessories, no doubt, your den will be one of your favorite rooms to stay in.

For more and more people every day, working from home is becoming the normal thing to do. Sometimes it can be difficult, but the freedom, not having to commute and setting you own hours is what most of us dream about doing. Although it may sound like the idyllic job, family distractions can make it difficult to concentrate and sometimes not having a “boss” looking over your shoulder makes you less disciplined and productive.

When working from home you still need to work in a professional environment and setting up a home office will help you stay focused and create surroundings that make you more industrious. The budget can be blown very quickly once you take note of all that you actually “want” in your new office space.

The best way forward is to make a list of the things that you “need” and be disciplined enough not to buy anything that is not on the list. As long as you are comfortable, all your paper work is organized in some sort of filing system, and you have one or two personal items displayed, you are on your way. As your business grows you can then upgrade to more luxurious office equipment and accessories.

Anyone who knows kids realizes how quickly a room can turn into a disaster, especially if there is more than one child playing. Most parents make a place in their child’s room that they can keep their toys. It is usually disorganized or it ends up that way after a day of play. If you have a separate playroom for your children it may get picked up but it still may be unorganized. There is way that you can turn that playroom into a professional looking day care play room for your own children.

To children, when they play, it is somewhat like work. They learn so much by playing. They learn memory, socialization, coordination, and more. Kids need to have their own place that is not just a play room but a room that can inspire them and allow them to feel free to be creative. The good news for you is that it doesn’t cost that much to do.

Map out your play room by deciding where you will put the inside gym, the arts and crafts section, pretend play area, books, and building section. You can also consider adding such sections as study section for those that are in school and also a section for music.

First, consider changing the colors of the wall by using primary colors. These types of colors are not only bright but they give off a positive attitude when you are in a room that uses these colors. Red, blue, yellow or green can be very nice. If you feel creative paint each wall a different color. Next purchase carpet for the play area so that the kids will not get hurt if they tumble. Also put carpet down at the reading section so the children can lie down while they read and get comfortable. Consider putting linoleum down on the areas at or near the arts and crafts section. Try to avoid putting a television in the room. If they want to watch movies they can go in the family room. You want to promote activity and creativity and television seems to dampen that.

Remember safety by installing outlet covers, blinds without strings, and padding around the inside gym. This will allow the children to be safe even when you are not in the room. Keep all the arts and crafts supplies up and away from the kids so little hands won’t be tempted.

Be creative and decorate a safari section on the wall with tall trees and a monkey if you can swing it. If you are not a talented artist your children won’t care. If you don’t feel right painting it yourself, you can find cling safari characters online or at your local store. Another thing you will want to do is to allow your child to dip their hands in paint and then place them slowly on the wall. You will have their little handprints as they were the day you created a room for them.

You probably already have most everything you need to decorate the room but if you need to purchase any extra try looking at the online auction sites where most of the time you can get a discount on everything you need. The main thing to remember is that you are creating a room just for them that will allow them to be free to be creative, stay active and best of all they are home.

The quickest and easiest way of redecorating a room is by adding some new rugs. If you can think of a shape or color, chances are you will find a rug to suite. Round, square, heart shaped and car shaped are just a few of the shapes you could find.

Oriental rugs are a great addition to any room as the variety of colors and patterns that they are made up of will suite just about any décor style that already exists in your room. The term oriental is very general and has now been replaced by, Indian, Chinese, Turkish and Persian rug, specifying the exact country the rugs originate form.

You can transform your space instantly with a new area rug by simply making it the focal point of the room. Placing your coffee table and chairs on top of an oval rug will not only create a focal point but will also create an “Island” effect where you can sit and socialize. Don’t forget that rugs do not always need to be placed on the floor to create a new look. A big Indian rug with gold threaded tassels looks fantastic hanging on a feature wall instead of a tapestry.

Generally people tend to forget about the few corners or small rooms they have and even though the rest of the house is decorated fantastically, the small areas stop it all from flowing well.

The first thing that you should do is to get rid of “everything” that is cluttering up your space. It is easy to put things in small spaces thinking that you will used them later on for something, but end up forgetting about them and before you realize the area is cramped and looks untidy. Once you have finished clearing you should only be left with a minimal amount of things that you really need to keep.

Choosing a paint color is extremely important, dark colors will cause the room to feel even smaller. You could use pale blues, light lavender or whatever color would suite the rest of your décor, as long it is a soft tone.

The window curtains should be a light see through material to let as much of the sunlight in as possible. If there are no neighboring houses that have a direct view into your room, leave the curtains or blinds off completely and add a valance made of a light colored fabric.

Keep your furniture items small and a similar color to your walls, this way it will make your small room look and feel even bigger. Paintings and photos on the wall should be limited to only one or two and avoid massive posters that would make the room crowded looking. Mirrors on opposing walls are a great way of making a small room seem much larger, if they are positioned correctly you can create that “never ending” reflection.

Decorating small spaces the right way will give them their own unique character and you will enjoy spending time in there again now that you don’t have to fight with all the junk lying around and it is a bright crisp color.
