For most homes, a contemporary rug is the best option since a lot of home interior these days are more into the modern feel.

Contemporary rugs, also known as modern rugs, come in variety of designs, looks, and materials. These rugs are more reminiscent of the modern art. You can either find a modern area rug with a more artistic design or shop for a quieter but colorful abstract style that still mimics the modern art.

If you plan to shop for an area rug, you should be able to also think out of the box. Take time to know more about contemporary rugs so you would know what modern is. There is absolutely a wide range of choices for modern rugs and all you have to do is to pick one that suits your style and taste.

Most people would love to redecorate their homes but as soon as they start thinking about it, one thing stops them, clutter and they don’t even know where to begin. Fortunately all is not lost and here are a few simple steps to a more organized home.

Start in your closets, they are sure to be full of things that you have forgotten or intend to use “someday”. To the rest of us it is called junk. Take a serious look at what is in there and get rid of everything that you have not touched for at least a year. Add a couple of extra shelves and baskets to help you keep things neat and tidy.

If you have kids, buy or make a toy box where they can store their toys just before bedtime. Most kids will get used to putting their toys away and before long they will be doing it automatically. Things like books and magazines can be places on an inexpensive shelf or under a coffee table if it has an extra shelf. Computer and TV cables can be an eyesore so invest in an armoire that will hide the unsightly cables. It will not only look great but will give you an extra small cupboard or two to store other items.

You will feel so much more relaxed when all the clutter is gone and your home is looking neat, tidy and is organized.

Good budgeting is all about saving money, just like how good interior is all about saving and utilizing the space in your home so that one can have a lot of stuff without having a lot of clutter. There are a lot of ways to save space through your home, whether it be storage boxes under the bed, bookcases, drawers. But there are also a lot of other ways to save space that you may not know about, such as keeping things stored inside your bed! Here are three ways of unusual storage that you might not know about that can really minimize the clutter in your home.

1. In-furniture storage
Blanket Box and other storage companies have created furniture that incorporate storage space within your furniture. That includes being able to put things under your bed, under your chair, inside your chair, etc. It’s definitely a great way to store things that you don’t usually use and keep them out of sight for unneeded clutter.

2. Mirrors
What’s become trendy lately is mirror furniture that has storage space incorporated into it, such as shelves on the sides of mirrors. Mirrors are also a fantastic way of making a room seem bigger by reflecting the rest of the room. Not only can you put things such as jewelry and other vanity items near your mirror, but also create a more comfortable atmosphere.

Learning how to pick the right area rugs for you home can be a bit daunting. There are many factors that you need to take into consideration and a good area rug can provide great cushioning, warmth and help a lot with sound control especially if you have wooden floors.

Modern décor will be complimented with solid color rugs or for a more dramatic look you can buy a rug with various geometric patterns. Traditional décor will look best with patterned rugs like oriental rugs, just make sure that the patterns are not so busy that they clash with heavily patterned fabric on your sofa.

Color obviously is a major part in deciding what area rug you choose to buy. If you already have an area rug that you want to keep then decorate the room using fabrics that compliment the rug. If on the other hand you are looking to buy a new rug just make sure that the colors of your new rug will work well with your existing color scheme.

Although there are fairly cheap area rugs available, a really good quality rug will set you back a bit but they will last many years and will always clean up well. Especially if you are intending on spending money on a quality rug, take some time while shopping in order to make sure that you will be happy living with it and it doesn’t end up in the basement.

But that may soon change in the next few years, as companies try to develop a new technology in which walls glow and give off light that resembles sunlight. This technology would be economical in so many ways–it uses low voltage so it would save money on electricity, and it would save the hassle of having to buy light bulbs every time they burnt out. In fact, this may even cause light bulb factories to go out of business!

This technology is estimated to be available in 2010, so keep your eye out for it!

I’ve always tried to be a more inconspicuous type of tourist. I wouldn’t take pictures of every little thing hundreds of times, I would do some research of the places I wanted to see so I wouldn’t have to ask too many questions, and I tried my best to not ask for directions if I got lost. One thing I always did, though, was buy a lot of useless souvenirs that would junk pile up in a closet somewhere. Little things such as keychains, postcards, tiny figurines, etc. And every time I saw the pile of things that have collected over the years because of my travels, I would feel a pang of regret for wasting my money on junk.

If you’ve also had this problem, I would love to share with you a great solution that can both rectify useless money spending and help decorate the home! And it’s as simple as buying a piece of home decoration on your travels instead of a silly monumental figurine (although I suppose those can also be used as decorations for the fireplace mantel…)

Every country and place has it’s own personality, style, culture, and traditions. And many of those things contribute to products being sold in the area you may be visiting. I would advise research before hand so you can get an idea of what to look for during your travels. That way, you get a new addition to your home, a souvenir, and no money is wasted at all!

Whether you travel a lot or not, there is always something that can match your home decor from overseas, and it’s always great to have a foreign accent accompanying your interiors.
