Inside the Outdoors

There used to be a big field full of flowers next to my neighborhood.  In the Spring, you could see all the different flowers that bloomed so beautifully, and so I never really understood why people would still go out to buy flowers in the Spring when there was a field full of flowers that you could pick for free.  What makes the great outdoors so great is the fact that it’s all natural beauty.  Man can do almost anything and create some kind of beauty, whether it be painting, photography, or design, but nothing can ever fully capture the beauty of the natural world which surrounds us.  And so, what better way to decorate your home than with a little something from Mother Nature?

Rugs of the Jungle

There are two kinds of people in this world: those who love animal print, and those who don’t. When I was younger, I used to think animal printed items were really tacky, especially because it would seem like the only time I would see animal print was on grandmas who couldn’t enough of the wild patterns! But now I have a whole new perspective on all things animal print. As long as it’s not over done, animal print rugs can really create a nice, exotic feel to your home.

Bottle It

Never know how to decorate your side table – not sure how to place things. Well take your inspiration from Kristan Cunningham and forget the design principle of groups of 3. Display all your items of the same color together for maximum impact – be sure to have tall and short items and different shades and shapes. Then pull the image together by placing an artwork above it all in similar shades.
