Instead of a 4-burner range, I have a two-burner range with a rotisserie/oven. I have a rice cooker, a microwave I use mostly for defrosting, and I also have a crock pot that is always simmering with a broth from the bones of whatever is the main meat dish for the day. I always have a lot of fresh vegetables that I can just throw into the pot shortly before mealtimes for a rich and healthy soup. The burners I use mostly for frying, for sauces, for sautéing and for boiling pasta. The oven gets the most mileage with roasts, meat loafs, pasta, pies, cakes and pastries.

I use a 13-day menu cycle so the same recipes don’t end up on the same day. Desserts are usually frozen blends of fresh fruit, cream, honey and yoghurt (home-made).

A large kitchen where the family can gather and chow down would have been ideal but the way things are, with sounds of delight around the dining room table, I’m not complaining.

When this happens, you can always buy a new one. However, for a lot of people, a new sofa means too much expense. You can instead decorate your old sofa with new slipcovers. What is great wit slipcovers is that you can use them too for your chairs, couch frame, recliners, ottomans, and so on.

With new slipcovers, you can instantly change the look of your room. Yu can, for example, decorate your room with new slipcovers based from the current season. You do not necessarily need to wait for your sofa to wear and tear. You can replace old covers with new slipcovers as season changes. This also prevents wear and tear in the future.

You can also decorate new slipcovers when you are hosting a party in your own home. This is a great idea since slipcovers would help you avoid cleaning and scrubbing your sofa after the party.

Who could ever forget college? It is when you start feel the versatility and independence of adult life. Away from rules and protective parents, college gives us the freedom to choose and feel in control of our own personal life. Making the most of your college days is not all about wild parties, explore your new found freedom by expressing yourself when decorating your dorm.

Moving into a new school and college dorm could be very exciting. You get to choose your own bedroom style, taste and accessories. Whether you are going to be spending the rest of the semester inside your own dorm unit or sharing it with some friends, decorating your college dormitory or apartment is like having a taste of decorating your very own house.

Young people are very particular with style and fashion. Most college peeps love having contemporary furniture inside their very own college bedroom. Others prefer functional yet stylish designs to spice up their room’s modern style. But aside from this, decorating your college room should always be within your allowance and easy on the budget.

Most dorms or college apartment are limited in space and should be equipped with designs and colors to make it look more spacious and comfortable. Use furniture that is functional and necessary. This is more practical than buying expensive chest drawers and closets which serve just the same purpose. Having simple and efficient furniture will save you more space and financial resources that will give you more opportunity to save up for your future college projects. You will surely enjoy studying formulas and equations for your Math class inside a room full of space and style.

Simplicity is still the best policy when it comes to room decorating. Books and study materials could be placed on bookshelves or book stands to make the room clutter free and neat. You can try and hang family pictures to make your room feel like you were never far from home. Area rugs could also make your college room homey and relaxing while keeping it trendy and fashionable. College is surely the best way to start your life’s responsibility and create opportunities for your very own future.

Have you ever found yourself in a situation when you need to touch up your home for an important occasion and there just isn’t enough time or money to do some major changes? If you have, you know how frustrating it can be to be at a loss about how to redecorate your home for a special purpose.

Thing is, you really don’t need a big budget or a lot of time to give your home an all-new look. You can do some quick decorating with area rugs, which are both cheap and durable. Area rugs scattered strategically all over your living room or kitchen can make all the difference and help you create a lovelier atmosphere for your guests.

Flokati rugs and oriental rugs are a good investment to cover your floors with. They add texture as well as color to any room, without denting your pocket too much. A rug can easily be replaced or matched with other types of rugs to create a different feel to any room in your house any time you need it.

Rug experts and interior designers recommend that your rug should be of just the right size to brighten up a room. Choose one that leaves 3 feet of space between the border and the nearest wall. For your kitchen, however, get a rug that exceeds your table by at least 4 feet all around so that the chairs will stay on the rug even when they’re pulled out.

With the worldwide recession that is happening sometimes it may seem that you cannot afford to redecorate you home and keep it looking good especially if you have lost your job. However there are still ways that you can keep you house looking good even when you lose your job on a small budget.

First of all you will have to get used to the idea of lowering your standards a bit and not even consider buying brand new sofas or other expensive items. If your sofa is really in need of a face lift consider buying a set of slip covers which will instantly transform an old sofa into something that looks brand new.

A fresh coat of inexpensive paint and a couple of framed prints will instantly transform your living room and with your new looking sofa it will seem as though you have spent a fortune redecorating.

Take some time to browse around thrift stores and markets as you will often find some great quality furniture that may only need a little repair to make it looking fabulous again.

When you are decorating on a small budget, just do as you did before and follow a certain color scheme, design etc, you will find that if you take your time and let your creativity shine through you will probably end up with something that is much better than you intended.

Sure, you will have to shell out a considerable amount of money for buying new stuff, but it home redecorating projects can also be executed even if you’re on a budget.

How can you do home decoration while sticking to your budget? That’s pretty easy. For example, your bathroom can benefit a lot from being cleaned regularly and with the right materials instead of you having to strip away the tiles and replace them with new ones. Strong bleaching chemicals can help you get rid of the mold and mildew on tile surfaces.

You can also invest in a new anti-damp paint. A fresh application of paint will cheer up your bathroom in a minute without costing you an arm and a leg. And if for now you can’t afford your dream shower stall or bathtub, you can still settle for getting a new shower curtain and rug to give the bathroom a novel appearance.

Finally, you can opt to use adhesive transfers to achieve a colorful new look to your bathroom tiles. Instead of replacing the tiles, you can just use the adhesive to liven things up a bit.

Having to redecorate or buy new furniture when you are on a low budget can be difficult even if your existing décor is in desperate need of an upgrade or your sofa is threadbare. When we buy new items for our home sometimes we don’t think about taking care of them until it is too late and the old medical expression prevention is better than the cure holds true for household items as well as for our health.

If you are buying something new make sure that you invest in quality. It is false economy to buy an inferior product, even at half the price, as it won’t last half the life time of a really good quality piece of furniture. Keep on to what you have as long as you can and save up the difference until you can afford the better quality item.

New furniture should be covered with slip covers, table cloths or whatever is suitable. This will ensure that they are protected and greatly increase the life of the specific piece of furniture. Sometimes if an item of furniture is broken, most people just automatically send it to get fixed, but shop around before you do this as often you will find the same item for sale at almost the same price as the repair costs. If the item is old it would be better just to buy a new one.

Just use some common sense when buying new furniture or looking to get old stuff refurbished and you will quickly realize that living within a small budget does not mean that you need to live with shabby furniture.

Sofa covers are relatively inexpensive and you should be able to pick up one or two sets at a good price. This will give you a new look every couple of months and make sure that you have something to cover your threadbare sofa when it is time to get the covers cleaned.

A set of lace curtains and matching table cloth are easy to get at a discounted price and not only will it give your living room a fresh look, but the table cloth will hide any old scratches on that coffee table that you have had for so many years.

To top it all of invest in a new area rug. If you have a bit of a budget then consider getting a really good quality one as they will last you many years, if not then an inexpensive one will look just as good.

That’s how quick and easy it is to transform a living room with only a couple of hundred dollars. If you have any spare change, buy some fresh cut flowers, sit back, relax and enjoy your new sanctuary.

With the worldwide economic crisis, many people are having to look for ways to stretch their budgets and cannot afford to redecorate their homes, but there are ways to acquire furniture with bargaining skills that many of us have forgotten or just don’t know. Here a just a few ideas on how to find budget furniture for a new décor look.

The old saying, “one man’s junk is another man’s treasure”, holds true today as it always has. Junk does not necessarily mean “junk”. Many people throw away decent furniture simply because they can afford to do a total revamp of their entire room every time they redecorate. Most cities have a bulk pickup day where you will see large furniture items lying on the sidewalk. Try finding out when this day is and take a walk around your neighborhood the night before or early in the morning and you are sure to pick up some little treasures.

Garage sales, flea markets and thrift shops are another place where you can pick up furniture very cheaply. When looking around these places, just make sure that the furniture is in decent condition and can be repaired cheaply if needed. Sometimes just a new coat of paint will create a brand new item, but be particularly wary of furniture that would need reupholstered as this can end up being costly.

Model homes are a great place to pick up designer furniture at a majorly reduced price. Once again just make sure that the furniture is in decent condition and that no major repairs are needed. The great thing about model homes is that it is possible to buy an entire “room” in one go.

Wherever you decide to look for cheap furniture, don’t be afraid to negotiate or haggle to get the price reduced. The majority of second hand furniture is exactly that, second hand, and people are looking to get rid of it and are happy to drop their price instead of having to transport it back and forth to the flea market.
